Thornton Veneers Dentist

Dental Veneers in Thornton, CO

Confident smiles are those with healthy, bright, and strong teeth. However, it’s not uncommon for patients’ smiles to become damaged over time by drinking coffee, tea, and red wine, or through accidental damage, trauma, and decay. At Alpine Dental Center, we rebuild the appearance of your smile and support patient confidence with porcelain veneers in Thornton, CO.

Porcelain Veneer Treatment at Alpine Dental Center

Dr. Gurman provides options that ensure your satisfaction with cosmetic treatment.

This includes veneers. Dental veneers are wafer thin covers that are custom made to adhere to your teeth to produce a more natural look. Veneers are ideal to cover up various dental issues, such as chipped or cracked teeth, large gaps in between teeth, misshapen teeth, and stained teeth,

Veneers are cosmetic in nature because they do not improve the health of your teeth or make them stronger. However, they can restore confidence in your smile by camouflaging flaws.

There are two main types of veneers. Porcelain veneers are natural-looking. They are strong and long-lasting and don’t stain easily. Composite veneers are made from tooth-colored filling material. They are easy to fix if broken and they cost less than porcelain veneers.

This includes no-prep and composite resin veneers for patients who prefer conservative and minimal procedures. For many patients, however, traditional porcelain veneers are recommended and preferred. These beautiful cosmetic restorations are popular for their ability to transform patients’ smiles in the following ways:

Bright Teeth – While many patients can achieve whiter smiles with teeth whitening, patients with deep stains or graying teeth caused by thinning dental enamel require porcelain restorations to meet their needs. Veneers create the appearance of bright teeth by covering these imperfections.

Straighter Teeth – Before placing veneers, natural teeth are buffed. This allows Dr. Gurman to plan the right size and shape of veneer to ensure your smile looks balanced and straight. Veneers can correct instances of gaps between teeth, minor crowding, or rotated teeth.

Damage-Free Dental Enamel – Veneers also restore teeth that have been cracked, chipped, or otherwise physically damaged. If the extent of the damage doesn’t warrant a crown, veneers can be added so your smile is seamless and natural-looking.

Dr. Gurman’s goal is to create the ideal balance, appearance, and function with veneers. During the treatment planning process, he ensures your restorations are created to fit your bite and support a natural appearance. Your veneers are customized at a local laboratory to create the ideal shape and shade.

Pros and Cons of Veneers

Dentists will tell you that veneers are great in many ways:

  • They look natural. Porcelain is similar to enamel, so veneers look very realistic.
  • They’re durable. Veneers are not permanent, but they can last as long as 15 years with good care.
  • They’re versatile. Veneers can fix tooth damage, crooked teeth, gaps, and more. They’re also quite stain-resistant.
  • They’re a quick fix. You can get a gorgeous, natural-looking smile in just two visits.

Veneers can be a great investment, but they come with some downsides:

  • They’re costly. Veneers can cost as much as $2,500 per tooth. Given that a full set is eight teeth, you could pay $20,000.
  • They require enamel removal. Veneers require some enamel removal. The issue is that enamel protects your teeth, so removing it makes your teeth susceptible to decay and damage. Enamel removal is not reversible.
  • Increased sensitivity. Because enamel is removed, your teeth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and beverages.

What to Know Before Getting Veneers

Not everyone is a good candidate for veneers. Here are some things you should know first:

  • Your teeth and gums must be healthy. Any decay or disease must be remedied before your dentist can place veneers.
  • Veneers are not good for grinders. If you clench or grind your teeth, you may not be a good candidate for veneers. You could make the thin veneers chip or break easily. You can still get veneers, but you may have to wear a night guard while sleeping.
  • Veneers require enamel removal. The veneer needs to be bonded to the tooth, and the most effective way to do this is to remove some enamel — about 1/2 millimeter. Make sure you really want to get veneers because the enamel removal process cannot be undone.
  • Veneers are not permanent. Porcelain veneers may last 15 years, while composite resin ones can last as long as seven years.
  • Choose the color wisely. Some people choose an opaque white for their veneers, which looks unnatural. Aim for a soft natural white for a more realistic look.
  • You don’t need veneers on all your teeth. Veneers improve the appearance of teeth. Therefore, you may only need veneers on a couple teeth.
