What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are made of titanium. Shaped like a screw, they are placed directly into the jawbone during a surgical procedure.

Length of the Implant Process
Traditional implants require a healing interval of several weeks before the prosthetic teeth can be added. If bone grafts are necessary, an additional healing interval is introduced before the implants themselves can be placed. However, other implant techniques allow the process to occur more quickly, with less invasive surgical procedures.
One example of a newer implant process allows the implants to be placed immediately after teeth are extracted. This approach does not require surgery to the gums and the healing process takes considerably less time.
